Matthew 13:1-23: Dụ ngôn về người gieo giống (2)

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, 

We started studying Matthew 13:1-23 in the last class. 

The seeds of the sower falling on four different places are compared to the four conditions of our hearts. The seed is the Word of God and the birds that take them away are the demons. 

We studied two conditions of the heart in the last class. The seeds falling on the wayside  are compared to people hearing, listening, and reading the Word of God but not receiving it in their heart. Not even a single Word enters inside such people because their hearts are filled with sin, greed, lust and all evil things. This is the first condition of the heart. 

The second condition of the heart is linked to the seeds falling on the rocks. A rocky heart is a heart that remains unmoved no matter what happens. They are the types of people who never want to change. They will not repent even when their health, peace and their whole life is affected. They will be bedridden but will not bother to repent their sins. They will not have any peace in their life but they will not pray to the true God. They will have losses and sufferings in their life, but are too stubborn to accept the truth that only Jesus can save them. Outwardly, such people pretend that they are happy with Jesus, but inwardly they are not willing to accept Jesus as their lord and saviour. Such people only follow Jesus as long as they are happy. If something goes wrong, or the Lord asks to do something that they do not like, such people will immediately stop following Jesus. 

These are the two conditions of the heart that we studied in the last class. Tonight, we study the remaining two conditions. 

The third thing that Jesus said in this parable is about the seeds falling among the thorns. When the thorns grew up, they choked the saplings. This is the third condition of the heart. The seeds of the evil thorns are lying in the heart. Without removing them, people try to fill their hearts with the Word of God. The Word of God is like pure milk. When we take milk in a cup or pan, we make sure that they are clean and pure. If there is any dirt or contamination in the cup or pan, when we boil the milk, it will get spoiled. Then we won't be able to use that milk anymore. In the same way, if our heart is impure, the Word of God cannot stay or work in our life. If the heart is filled with all devilish things, the Word of God will not work in it. 

When we sow a seed, it is expected to grow. When the seed falls on the wayside, it does not grow at all. When it falls on the rocky surface, it does grow but dries off quickly. In this case, the seed is falling among the thorns. It does grow but the thorns crush the plant. It means that the seed was sown without removing the thorns. Therefore, we need to see what are all the thorns that are inside us. The thorns are all the evils that a person has experienced throughout one’s life before meeting Jesus. 

Imagine all the bad experiences you have ever had in your life. There are people who had been abused as a child. There are people who have lost one or both of their parents quite early in their life. There are people who as a child had seen their parents, relatives or neighbours fighting. There are people who might have witnessed a horrific accident or death. There are people who might have been cheated. Each individual has a story. Every individual might have an evil experience in life. 

As you were not brought up as a child of Jesus, many people like you could not experience the protection and cover of God. When you witness an accident or a fight, the demon of fear enters inside you. If a child is abused, the demon of abuse and fear enters inside the child. They are the thorns. As these thorns grow inside, people have mental disabilities, psychological problems, sleeping disorders, anxiety, panic attacks and so on. At some point of time, if the person comes to Jesus, s/he will receive it with great enthusiasm expecting healing from Jesus. Of course Jesus will heal. There is no doubt about it. But, there are so many thorns inside. So the very first thing that such people need to do is to have a whole hearted confession and get deliverance from all the thorns which are the demons. This is the reason why the Orthdox church instructs a confession before receiving the body and blood of Christ. 

As mentioned in the last class, the rich young man wanted Jesus. But, Jesus said, yes you can have me. But, get rid of the thorn. His thorn was his ancestral property and wealth. Likewise, in John 4 we read about a Samaritan woman. She was attracted to Jesus and wanted the living water from God. Jesus said, I am happy to give you the living water, but before that go and bring your husband. She lied saying I have no husband. Jesus immediately caught hold of the thorn that was inside her. Let us read John 4:16-18. Since her youth, she was actually into adultery and kept changing husbands. Along with that evil thorn, she wanted to have a relationship with Jesus. 

John 4:16-18 Ngài bảo: hãy gọi chồng chị, rồi trở lại đây. Người phụ nữ thưa: “tôi không có chồng”. Đức Chúa Giê Su nói: “Chị bảo rằng chị không có chồng là phải, vì chị có năm đời chồng, còn người mà chị hiện có không phải là chồng chị, điều nầy chị đã nói thật.

In driving vehicles, there is a road rule. For example, when you are entering the main road from a narrow road, you must stop completely, look to your left and right and make sure that it is safe to enter the main road. Once it is safe, you enter the main road. The same rule applies to follow Jesus. From the narrow and dark roads of life, you are entering the highway of God. You need to look into your own life and clear all the evil thorns. Once your life is clear from sins and evil spirits, you can enter the main road of God. 

What this means is you need to change completely to receive the blessings of God. It means you need to change the way you think, the way you talk, the way you behave with others, and the way you do things. There should be the love and compassion of Jesus in all these things so that others may see how different it is to have a life with God. 

Let us read Ephesians 2: 1-3. As these verses say, the children of God have a past and a present. The past is the narrow and dark road through which you have travelled. In order to get you on to the main road with God, Jesus shed His blood on the cross, died for your sins, and resurrected on the third day.  By the blood of Jesus, you are saved from evil relationships. By the blood of Jesus, your anxiety, depression and panic attacks are healed. By the blood of Jesus your miseries are gone. By the blood of Jesus you are cleansed and made a new person. Let us read Colossians 2: 13-14.

Tất cả chúng ta đều ở trong số này, đã có lần sống theo những dục vọng của xác thịt và tâm trí. Như vậy, theo bản chất tự nhiên, chúng ta là con của sự thịnh nộ như mọi người khác.

 

Colosians 2:13-14, Ngài đã hủy bỏ giấy nợ chống lại chúng ta với những luật lệ ràng buộc chúng ta. Ngài loại bỏ bằng cách đóng đinh nó vào thập tự giá. Ngài đã phế bỏ các quyền thống trị, các thế lực, dùng thập tự giá chiến thắng chúng, bêu chúng ra giữa thiên hạ.

 

Our transformation as children of God is beyond all explanations. No amount of words can describe the transformation of a child of God from darkness to light, and from narrow road to the main road. This is what Saint Peter said in 1 Peter 2:9-10. As these verses say, we have received the status as royals in the Kingdom of God. We are a chosen people, holy nation, and God’s own possession. Early we were possessed by the devil. But now, we are possessed by God. So we enjoy peace, joy, and happiness. 

1 Peter 2:9-10, Nhưng anh em là dòng giống được tuyển chọn, là chức tế lễ hoàng gia, là dân tộc thánh, là dân thuộc riêng về Đức Chúa Trời, để anh em rao truyền công đức vĩ đại của Đấng đã gọi anh em ra khỏi nơi tối tăm, đưa vào vùng ánh sáng diệu kỳ của Ngài. Trước kia anh em không phải là một dân, nhưng bây giờ là dân Đức Chúa Trời, trước kia không được thương xót mà bây giờ được thương xót.

That leads us to the fourth condition of the heart. Let us read the last verse of our topic of study, Matthew 13:23. This is the condition of our heart after becoming the possession of God. Our growth will be immense. Our nature and behaviour will be immaculate. When we talk, people naturally enjoy peace and happiness. All these changes are because our heart is filled with the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ. This is what happened when Jesus talked to the people. In the next chapter we will study about Jesus multiplying five loaves of bread and two fish to feed 5000 people. There we read that it was evening and people forgot even their food as they were immersed in the teachings of Jesus. 

Matthew 13:23, Còn hạt giống gieo trên đất tốt là người nghe, hiểu đạo và có kết quả: một thành một trăm, một thành sáu chục, một thành ba chục.

Jesus said that the seed that fell on the good ground produced a hundred fold, sixty fold and thirty fold. It means, the people who received the Word of God understood it well. They took the Word of God to their heart. The Word of God not only changed their lives but they went and used the Word of God to change the lives of other people. Some people changed the lives of a hundred people,  some sixty and some others thirty people. At this point, I need to congratulate Maria for organising the charity for the blind people in her province. Our church shared the love of Jesus with 100 poor and blind people during Easter. We shared with them John 9 as well. In this way, we were able to share the Word of God and the love of Jesus with them. This had been made possible by the tithe that Rhoda, Huyen, and Lydia gave to the Lord. May God bless you. Let us plan to do more of such things in future. 

The people of Vietnam need the love of Jesus. They need healing. They need deliverance. And, you can give all these to them. We are accountable to God. We should be able to tell God that we shared the Word and love with the people of our country. That is how we produce a hundred fold, sixty fold, and thirty fold. 

Are you ready to be transformed? If yes, take out all the thorns from your life. Confess your sins. Repent and forgive all those people who abused you and tried to destroy you. Receive the Word of God with an open heart. Let the Word of God transform you. When you are transformed, do not forget to help others also to be transformed.

In the last class, we studied in detail an introduction to the parable. 

Ở buổi trước, chúng ta đã học chi tiết phần giới thiệu về các dụ ngôn.

Tonight we look at the first parable of this chapter. Let us read Matthew 13:1-23. 

Tối nay, chúng ta sẽ học dụ ngôn đầu tiên của chương này. Chúng ta hãy đọc Matthew 13:1-23.

This is a lengthy section but we need to take it up together to understand fully. There are three sections in this passage. The first passage is the parable that Jesus said, as we read from vs.1-9. The second passage is about the purpose of the parable as we read in vs.10-17. The third passage is Jesus explaining the meaning of the parable as we read from vs. 18-23. 

Đây là một đoạn khá dài nhưng chúng ta cần phải nối các đoạn lại với nhau để có thể hiểu đầy đủ. Có ba phần trong đoạn này. Đoạn đầu tiên là dụ ngôn mà Chúa nói như chúng ta đọc từ câu 1 đến câu 9. Đoạn thứ hai là về mục đích của dụ  ngôn mà chúng ta đọc trong câu 10 – 17. Đoạn thứ ba là Chúa Giê Su giải thích về ý nghĩa của đoạn dụ ngôn như chúng ta đọc được từ câu 18 đến 23.

This parable is about a sower who went to sow seeds. As he sowed, some of the seeds fell on the path; some on the rocky ground, some fell among thorns, and some fell on the good soil. Then Jesus said that the seeds that fell by the path were immediately eaten by the birds. The seeds that fell on the rocky ground did grow up a little bit, but it just dried off quickly. Those seeds that fell among the thorns also grew up but the thorns just killed the plants. Only the seeds that were sown in the good soil grew up properly. They produced 30 fold, 60 fold and 100 fold grain. 

Đoạn dụ ngôn nói về một người gieo hạt. Khi anh ta gieo hạt, một số hạt rơi xuống đường, một số hạt rơi xuống đất có nhiều sỏi đá, một số lại rơi vào gai nhọn và một số rơi vào đất tốt. Khi Chúa Giê Su nói rằng hạt rơi trên đường bị chim ăn mất. Hạt rơi trên đất sỏi đá thì chỉ mọc lên một chút rồi héo khô. Hạt mọc trên bụi gai thì mọc lên nhưng gai nhọn làm cho nó tịt ngòi. Chỉ có hạt được trồng trên đất tốt thì mới lớn lên khỏe mạnh được. Chúng sẽ mang lại 30, 60 và 100.

One of the unique qualities of Jesus was that He always spoke in very simple sentences. It was always like talking to kids and telling them stories. So, all the people could easily understand what Jesus said. At the same time, all that Jesus said had very deep meanings that changed the lives of the people. This parable also is like that. Everyone understands what Jesus said. The deeper meaning is what we need to understand. 

Một trong những đặc điểm độc đáo của Chúa Giê Su đó là Ngài luôn luôn nói bằng những câu nói đơn giản. Nó luôn giống như nói cho những đứa trẻ nghe và kể cho chúng nghe những câu chuyện vậy. Vì vậy tất cả mọi người đều có thể dễ dàng hiểu được những điều Chúa nói. Cùng lúc đó, tất cả những điều Chúa nói đều có những ý nghĩa sâu sắc mà thay đổi cuộc sống của con người. Dụ ngôn là như thế. Mọi người hiểu những điều Chúa đã nói. Lớp nghĩa sâu hơn là thứ chúng ta sẽ được học.

As Jesus explained, the seed is the Word of God. The birds are the demons. The seeds falling on the path are about those people who are unable to understand the Word of God. They hear the Word of God; they read the Word of God, but none of the Word enters inside them. A good example would be filling a pot with water. In order to get the pot filled you will have to place the mouth of the pot right under the tap. If you place the pot upside down, all the water will only flow outside the pot and not even a single drop of water will go inside the pot. In the same way, if our attitude to the Word of God is upside down, then not even a single Word of God will enter inside us. It is like entering through one ear and immediately passing out through the other ear. 

Như Chúa đã giải thích, hạt giống là Lời của Chúa. Những con chim là quỷ. Hạt giống rơi trên đường nói về những người họ không thể hiểu được Lời của Chúa. Họ nghe về Lời của Chúa và đọc về Lời của Chúa nhưng không có lời nào thấm vào trong cả. Một ví dụ có thể là đổ nước vào một cái lọ chứa nước. Để nước vào được trong thì mình phải để lọ hướng lên trên. Nếu mình úp ngược lọ xuống dưới, tất cả nước sẽ chảy vào đáy lọ và không có giọt nào rơi vào trong cả. Tương tự, nếu như thái độ của chúng ta đối với Lời của Chúa bị úp ngược thì không có một lời nào đi vào trong. Nó sẽ giống như lời đi vào một tai và lập tức đi qua tai kia.

So why is the Word of God not entering inside? It is not entering inside because our heart is not prepared to accept the Word of God. I will give you a simple example. One day a divorced woman went to the church and started studying the Word of God. After a few days she said I want to get baptised. The priest of the church said, I am more than happy to baptise you. But, go and get reconciled with your husband first. Then I will baptise you. The woman was very stubborn and just left. Then she went to another church and requested the same thing. The priest of that church also said the same thing. So she left that church as well. What we see here is that none of the Word of God that she heard ever entered inside her heart.

Vì vậy tại sao Lời của Chúa lại không đi vào trong? Nó không đi vào trong là bởi vì trái tim của chúng ta không sẵn sàng để chấp nhận Lời của Chúa. Cha sẽ cho một ví dụ đơn giản. Một ngày nọ một phụ nữ li dị đi tới nhà thờ và bắt đầu học Lời của Chúa. Sau vài ngày, cô ấy nói tôi muốn được rửa tội. Cha ở nhà thờ nói, Cha hoàn toàn sẵn lòng để rửa tội cho con. Nhưng hãy về và hòa giải với chồng đi đã. Sau đó Cha sẽ rửa tội cho con. Người phụ nữ này rất cứng đầu và bỏ đi. Sau đó cô ấy đi sang một nhà thờ khác và yêu cầu một điều tương tự. Cha ở nhà thờ đó cũng nói một điều tương tự. Vì vậy, cô ấy lại rời nhà thờ đó nữa. Điều chúng ta thấy ở đây là không một Lời của Chúa nào mà cô ấy nghe đi vào bên trong cả.

The reason why the Word of God fails to enter inside us could be our false pride, high ego, wrong beliefs and a negative attitude. Keeping all these things inside, you may still attend the Bible class; you may still attend the Church; you may still observe the lent; you may still pray. But there is no point. As soon as you finish the class, or finish reading the Bible, or finish praying, the devil will come and steal every blessing that you may have received. This is what God said to Cain in Genesis 4: 7 that sin is waiting at your door to attack you. It happened to Judas Iscariot the disciple of Jesus. 

Lý do tại sao Lời của Chúa không đi vào trong chúng ta có thể là do sự tự ái của chúng, sự tự cao, bản ngã, niềm tin sai lạc và một thái độ tiêu cực. Giữ tất cả những điều này ở bên trong, bạn vẫn có thể tham gia Lớp Kinh Thánh; bạn có thể vẫn tham dự nhà thờ; bạn có thể vẫn giữ các kỳ Chay thánh, bạn có thể vẫn cầu nguyện. Nhưng không có giá trị gì. Ngay sau khi bạn học xong hoặc đọc Kinh Thánh xong hoặc cầu nguyện xong, quỷ sẽ tới và ăn cắp mọi phước lành mà bạn có thể vừa mới nhận được. Đó là điều Chúa nói với Cain trong Sáng thế ký 4:7, tội lỗi đang rình rập ở ngoài cửa. Và đó cũng là điều xảy ra với Judas Iscariot môn đồ của Chúa Giê Su.

Judas was with Jesus throughout. It means he heard the Word of God everyday. He was actively involved in everything with Jesus. Let us read John 13:21-27. We see here that Judas received the Holy Qurbana directly from Jesus. But, immediately after that Satan entered and dragged him away. In both the cases of Cain and Judas, we see that not even a single Word of God entered their heart. This is what it means by the seeds falling by the wayside or on the path. 

Judas đã ở cùng với Chúa Giê Su xuyên suốt. Có nghĩa rằng Judas đã nghe Lời của Chúa hàng ngày. Nó tham gia tích cực vào mọi điều cùng với Chúa. Chúng ta hãy đọc John 13:21-27. Chúng ta thấy ở đây rằng Judas đã nhận được Holy Qurbana trực tiếp từ Chúa Giê Su. Nhưng ngay sau đó, quỷ Satan đã vào trong và kéo nó đi. Ở cả hai trường hợp của Cain và Judas, chúng ta thấy rằng thậm chí không có một Lời nào của Chúa đi vào trong cả. Đây là ý nghĩa của câu hạt giống rơi dọc đường.

We read in the second section of tonight’s passage Jesus explaining why He is using parables. Let us read Matthew 13: 13 The reason I speak to them in parables is that ‘seeing they do not perceive and hearing they do not listen, nor do they understand. I explained this in the last class, especially about the secret code. The secret code is used to protect information from the enemies. The demons and the people infested with demons will hear the Word of God but will not understand. Or, they will interpret wrongly as Satan did with Jesus Christ as we studied in Matthew 4. In any case, the Word of God will only be like the seeds falling on the wayside for the demonic people. 

Chúng ta hãy đọc ở trong đoạn thứ hai của đoạn ngày hôm nay. Chúa Giê Su đã giải thích tại sao Ngài sử dụng dụ ngôn. Chúng ta hãy đọc Matthew 13:13 Ta dùng ẩn dụ mà nói với họ vì họ xem mà không thấy, lắng tai mà không nghe không hiểu. Cha đã giải thích câu này trong buổi trước, đặc biệt là về mật mã bí mật. Mật mã được sử dụng để bảo vệ thông tin khỏi kẻ thù. Quỷ và những người có nhiều quỷ sẽ nghe thấy Lời của Chúa nhưng không hiểu. Hoặc họ sẽ hiểu sai như Satan đã làm với Chúa như chúng ta đọc trong Matthew chương 4. Trong trường hợp nào đi chăng nữa, Lời của Chúa cũng sẽ chỉ như hạt giống rơi dọc đường cho những kẻ dữ mà thôi.

What we see in this parable is the four conditions of the heart. The Word of God is the same for everyone. Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God will stand forever. Likewise, Jesus said in Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. From these verses we can see that the Word of God is permanent. No matter what happens, the power of the Word of God is the same. Then why do some people complain that the Word of God is not working in them? It is because of the condition of their heart. One of the worst conditions of the heart is given in Isaiah 59:1-2 See, the Lord’s hand is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. Rather, your iniquities have been barriers between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you. 

Điều chúng ta nhìn thấy trong dụ ngôn này là bốn điều kiện của trái tim. Lời của Chúa là giống nhau cho tất cả mọi người. Isaiah 40:8 Cỏ khô, hoa rụng nhưng Lời của Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta đứng đời đời. Tương tự, Chúa Giê Su nói trong Matthew 24:35 “Trời đất sẽ qua đi, nhưng Lời Ta nói sẽ không bao giờ qua đâu”. Từ những câu này chúng ta có thể thấy rằng Lời của Chúa là vĩnh cửu. Cho dù điều gì xảy ra, sức mạnh của Lời của Chúa vẫn sẽ giữ nguyên. Vậy tại sao người ta lại phàn nàn rằng Lời của Chúa không hoạt động trong họ? Đó là bởi tình trạng của tấm lòng của họ. Một trong những tình trạng tồi tệ nhất là tấm lòng được đưa ra trong Isaiah 59:1-2 “Nầy, tay Đức Giê Hô Va chẳng phải ngắn mà không cứu được. Tai Ngài chẳng phải nặng mà không nghe được đâu. Nhưng chính vì sự gian ác của các ngươi đã phân cách các ngươi với Đức Chúa Trời mình.”

This is the first of the four conditions of the heart - A heart that is filled with iniquities and sins. As I said earlier, if your heart is filled with false pride, laziness, high ego, false beliefs and practices, not even a single Word of God can enter. They will fall by the wayside. It means you lose the Word of God. Whatever you lose is an advantage for the devil. He will immediately come and take them away from you. Therefore, the very first thing that you need to do is to get rid of all the demonic things from your heart. 

Đây là điều đầu tiên trong bốn điều kiện của tấm lòng – một tấm lòng chứa đầy tội lỗi và điều xấu. Như tôi đã nói, nếu tấm lòng bạn chứa đầy những sự kiêu ngạo giả dối, lười biếng, tự ái, niềm tin và hành vi giả tạo, không có một Lời của Chúa nào đi vào trong. Họ sẽ ngã dọc đường. Có nghĩa rằng bạn đã mất Lời của Chúa. Bất kỳ điều gì chúng ta mất thì sẽ là lợi thế dành cho quỷ. Nó sẽ mau chóng tới và mang chúng đi khỏi bạn. Do đó, điều đầu tiên mà bạn cần làm đó là loại bỏ những điều xấu xa ra khỏi tâm hồn bạn.

The second condition of the heart is what Jesus said about the seeds falling on the rocky surface. Jesus explained that the seeds falling on the rocky surface means that there are people whose hearts are hard like a rock. They are happy to receive the Word of God. But, the moment they hear things that they do not want to hear or do, they will immediately leave. For example, there are people who follow Jesus but are into adultery and evil things. If someone tells them no you cannot do that because you are a child of God, they will become upset. I hope you remember the conversation between the rich young man and Jesus. He wanted to follow Jesus. But, when Jesus asked him to sell off everything and then come and follow him, the young man stopped. This is what Jesus said about the seeds falling on the rocky ground as we read in vs 20-21 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the Word and immediately receives it with joy; yet such a person has no root, but endures only for a while, and when trouble or persecution arises or account of the Word of God, that person immediately falls away. 

Điều thứ hai của trái tim đó là điều Chúa nói về hạt giống rơi vào đất đá. Chúa Giê Su đã giải thích rằng hạt giống rơi vào đất đá là những người có trái tim sỏi đá. Họ sẵn lòng nhận được Lời của Chúa. Nhưng ngay khi họ nghe thấy những thứ họ không muốn nghe hoặc làm, họ sẽ lập tức rời đi. Ví dụ, có những người theo Chúa Giê Su nhưng lại phạm tội ngoại tình và làm những điều xấu. Nếu ai đó bảo họ, không anh không thể làm vậy bởi vì anh là con cái Chúa, họ sẽ trở nên buồn bã. Tôi hy vọng bạn còn nhớ cuộc hội thoại giữa người thanh niên trẻ giàu có và Chúa Giê Su. Anh ta đã muốn theo Chúa. Nhưng khi Chúa Giê Su bảo anh ta bán hết của cái đi và theo Ngài, người thanh niên đó đã dừng lại. Đó là điều Chúa Giê Su nói về hạt giống rơi vào đất đá như chúng ta đọc được trong câu 20, 21 Hạt giống rơi trên đất đá là người khi nghe đạo thì liền vui mừng tiếp nhận, nhưng đạo không đâm rễ trong lòng chỉ tồn tại nhất thời, nên khi vì đạo mà gặp hoạn nạn hay bắt bớ thì người đó liền vấp ngã.”  

The people who stop following Jesus when affected by a negative situation are those with a rocky heart. We have many examples from this Bible class. Many people joined us with enthusiasm but the moment things did not go the way that they wanted, they stopped. I feel pity for them because they are losing a great opportunity to save themselves and their families from the demonic bondage that they are in for generations. In Jeremiah 5: 4 the prophet just consoles himself by saying Then I said, These are only the poor, they have no sense; for they do not know the way of the Lord, the law of their God. So what we should do is to pray for them so that their eyes and ears may be opened to see the Lord and hear the Word of God. More importantly we should pray that their stony heart be turned to a heart of flesh. It is our duty and responsibility to pray for such people. Do not think that they will never come back. They will come back one day. It will be the time that the Lord decides. We pray and wait patiently for that time and day. 

Người ta ngừng theo Chúa khi bị ảnh hưởng bởi một tình huống tiêu cực là những người có trái tim sỏi đá. Có nhiều ví dụ từ lớp học Kinh Thánh này. Nhiều người khi theo lớp thì đầy hứng khởi nhưng lúc mọi thứ xảy ra không như họ muốn thì họ bỏ luôn. Tôi cảm thấy tiếc cho họ bởi vì họ đã mất đi cơ hội tuyệt vời để cứu họ và gia đình khỏi xiềng xích của quỷ mà đã dai dẳng bám lấy họ nhiều thế hệ. Trong Giê Rê Mi 5:4, nhà tiên tri đã chỉ tự an ủi mình rằng Còn tôi, tôi nói: “Đây chỉ là những kẻ nghèo hèn, ngu muội. Vì chúng không biết đường lối Đức Giê Hô Va. Phán quyết của Đức Chúa Trời mình”. Vì vậy điều chúng ta làm là cầu nguyện cho họ để mà mắt họ và tai họ có thể được mở ra để nhìn thấy Chúa và nghe thấy Lời của Chúa. Quan trọng hơn, chúng ta nên cầu nguyện rằng trái tim sỏi đá của họ được chuyển thành trái tim bằng thịt. Đó là trách nhiệm và nghĩa vụ của chúng ta là phải cầu nguyện cho những người đó. Like the prophet Jeremiah, Ezekiel the prophet was also lamenting on the stony heart of the people. Lord answered his prayers as we read in Ezekiel 11:19 I will give them a new heart, and put a new spirit within them; I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh. As we read here, there will be a day when all the hearts of stones will be replaced with a heart of flesh. But for that day to come, we should pray to the Lord everyday. You might have tried to share the Word of God with your friends and failed. You might have tried to bring your family members to Jesus with no success. Do not be disappointed. Our job is to sow the seed. It is God who grows the seed. So we do not have to worry. 

Giống như nhà tiên tri Giê Rê Mi, nhà tiên tri Ezekiel cũng đã than khóc về trái tim sỏi đá của mọi người. Chúa đã trả lời lời cầu nguyện của ông như chúng ta đọc trong Ezekiel 11:19 Ta sẽ ban cho họ một tấm lòng mới, phú thần mới trong họ, cất lòng bằng đá khỏi xác thịt họ và sẽ ban cho họ lòng bằng thịt. Như chúng ta đọc được ở đây, sẽ có một ngày mọi trái tim sỏi đá sẽ được thay thể bằng trái tim bằng thịt. Nhưng để chờ được đến ngày đó, chúng ta cần phải cầu nguyện Chúa mỗi ngày. Bạn có thể đã từng thử chia sẻ Lời của Chúa với bạn bè và đã thất bại. Bạn có thể đã từng thử mang các thành viên trong gia đình đến với Chúa nhưng không thành công. Đừng thất vọng. Công việc của bạn là gieo hạt giống. Chính Chúa sẽ là người làm cho hạt giống lớn lên. Vì vậy chúng ta sẽ không cần lo lắng.

But, we need to look at ourselves and see whether our own heart is stony. If you think the Word of God is not working in your life, pray to the Lord and ask to remove your stony heart. Ask God to change the condition of your heart. King David prayed the same as we read in Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. We use Psalm 51 in all our prayers. It helps us to regularly look into our hearts and see whether it is clean to accept the Word of God. 

Nhưng điều chúng ta cần nhìn vào bản thân và xem xem đó là liệu trái tim của chính chúng ta có phải là sỏi đá hay không. Nếu bạn nghĩ rằng Lời của Chúa không hoạt động trong cuộc sống của bạn, hãy cầu nguyện Chúa và cầu xin Ngài loại bỏ trái tim sỏi đá của bạn. Hãy cầu xin Chúa thay đổi tình trạng của trái tim của bạn. Vua David đã cầu nguyện tương tự như chúng ta đọc được trong Thi Thiên 51:10 Xin dựng nên trong con một lòng trong sạch và làm mới lại trong con một tâm linh ngay thẳng. We have only covered two conditions of the heart related to the problem. The first is about the Word of God falling on the path. The second is the Word of God falling on the rocks. In the next class, we will look at the remaining two.

Chúng ta mới chỉ bao quát hai điều kiện của tấm lòng liên quan đến vấn đề này. Đầu tiên là Lời của Chúa rơi dọc đường. Điều thứ hai là Lời của Chúa rơi trên đá. Ở buổi sau, chúng ta sẽ học về hai điều còn lại.

Until then, do meditate on these two and try to change the condition of your heart.

Jesus is Risen

Blessed be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Beloved children of Jesus,

Today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for our sins and rose up on the third day. By His death and resurrection our death is cancelled. Therefore, we live in Christ forever.

In the Orthodox tradition we greet each other after resurrection by saying JESUS IS RISEN. And the response to the greeting is INDEED HE IS RISEN. 

There is no fasting or lent for the next fifty days as we celebrate the risen Christ. 

I wish you and your family a blessed Easter.

Chương 13: Dụ ngôn là gì?

We have completed Chapter 12 of the gospel according to Saint Matthew. Tonight, we start with Chapter 13. This chapter covers the parables said by Jesus. There are five parables of Lord Jesus in this chapter. Therefore, we need to understand what a parable is and why Jesus spoke in parables. 

Chúng ta đã học xong chương 12 của Tin Lành theo Thánh Matthew. Tối nay, chúng ta bắt đầu học chương 13. Chương này bao gồm các dụ ngôn được Chúa Giê Su nói. Có 5 dụ ngôn của Chúa trong chương này. Do đó, chúng ta cần phải hiểu dụ ngôn là gì và tại sao Chúa Giê Su lại nói bằng dụ ngôn.

In tonight’s class we will have an introduction about the parables. From the next class onwards, we will take up each parable.  

Trong buổi học tối nay, chúng ta sẽ có một bài giới thiệu về dụ ngôn. Từ bài sau trở đi, chúng ta sẽ học từng dụ ngôn một.

Parables are stories in word pictures that reveal spiritual truths. The Hebrew and Aramaic words for parable also mean ‘riddle’ or ‘proverb’. There are many proverbs in the Bible, especially in the Gospel. There are a few examples of parables in the Old Testament. For example, 1 Kings 12:14 …My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions. Another example of a parable is given in Isaiah 5:1-7. Both these parables do not literally mean what it says. Instead, it is something that is said indirectly using a riddle or a short story. Jesus always used parables to teach the people. In vs 34 of this chapter we read, All these things Jesus spoke in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them.  

Dụ ngôn là các câu chuyện có hình ảnh mà hé lộ những sự thật về tâm linh. Các từ bằng tiếng Hebrew hay Aramaic cho dụ ngôn có nghĩa là “câu đố” hoặc “châm ngôn”. Có nhiều dụ ngôn trong Kinh Thánh, đặc biệt là ở Tin Lành. Có một vài ví dụ về dụ ngôn ở phần Cựu Ước. Ví dụ, 1 Kings 12:14  Cha trẫm đã đặt lên các ngươi một ách nặng nề, trẫm sẽ làm cho ách các ngươi nặng nề hơn nữa. Cha trẫm đã trừng phạt các ngươi bằng roi da, trẫm sẽ trừng phạt các ngươi bằng roi bọ cạp. Một ví dụ khác nữa của dụ ngôn được đưa ra trong Isaiah 5:1-7 . Cả hai dụ ngôn này không hoàn toàn ám chỉ như những gì được nói ra. Thay vào đó, có một điều gì đó được ám chỉ gián tiếp sử dụng một câu đố hoặc một câu chuyện ngắn. Why did Jesus speak always in parables? Before the coming of Jesus to this world, this was prophesied as we read in Psalm 78:1-2 Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I shall open my mouth in parables; I shall speak of hidden things from of old. Asaph prophesied this more than 900 years before the coming of Jesus. It became true when Jesus spoke in parables.  

Tại sao Chúa Giê Su lại luôn nói bằng dụ ngôn? Trước khi sự đến của Chúa Giê Su với thế gian, điều này đã được tiên tri như chúng ta đọc trong Thi Thiên 78:1-2 Hỡi dân ta hãy lắng nghe lời khuyên dạy của Ta; hãy nghiêng tai nghe lời của miệng ta. Ta sẽ mở miệng nói bằng ẩn dụ, giãy bày những huyền nhiệm từ đời xưa. Asaph đã tiên tri điều này hơn 900 năm trước khi sự đến của Chúa Giê Su. Điều đó đã trở thành sự thật khi Chúa nói bằng các dụ ngôn.

The disciples asked Jesus, why do you always speak in parables. The reason for speaking in parables is given by Jesus Himself as we read in Matthew 13:10-15. As we read here there are two reasons given by Jesus, for speaking in parables. The first reason is to reveal the secrets of the kingdom of heaven only to those who believe in Jesus and follow Him. Now you know that the defence force of a country has got their own secret codes. Only the soldiers would know what each code means. These codes are meant to keep the country and the activities of the soldiers safe and secure. The code used by one soldier to communicate with another soldier is secret. The enemy wouldn’t know the meaning of that code. 

Các môn đồ đã hỏi Chúa Giê Su, tại sao Ngài luôn dạy dỗ bằng cách dụ ngôn. Lý do để nói về các dụ ngôn được đưa ra bởi chính Chúa như chúng ta đọc được trong Matthew 13:10-15. Như chúng ta đọc được ở đây có hai lý do được đưa ra bởi Chúa Giê Su, cho việc nói bằng dụ ngôn. Lý do thứ nhất là để hé lộ các bí mật của thiên đàng chỉ với những ai tin Ngài và theo Ngài. Bạn có thể biết rằng lực lượng bảo vệ đất nước có một bộ mã bí mật của riêng họ. Chỉ những người lính mới biết các bộ mã này nghĩa là gì. Likewise, we belong to Jesus. We are protected by the code of the kingdom of heaven. Our enemy is the devil. He will not be able to make out how we are keeping our communication line active with the Lord. The kingdom of heaven means living with Jesus. So how do we live with Jesus everyday? The answer is by having Jesus inside us. So how can we have Jesus inside us? We need to do things to have Jesus inside us: 1. We read the Word of God everyday; 2. Is the most important. It is by receiving the body and blood of Jesus Christ every Sunday. Now I know that many of you are not yet baptised. So you cannot receive the Holy Qurbana which is the body and blood of Jesus. Nevertheless, when you are baptised, you will be able to have Jesus fully inside you. At this stage, you are preparing yourselves by studying the Word of God. 

Tương tự, chúng ta thuộc về Chúa Giê Su. Chúng ta được bảo vệ bởi mật mã của vương quốc thiên đàng. Kẻ thù của chúng ta là quỷ. Nó sẽ không thể tìm ra được chúng ta giữ liên lạc cùng với Chúa như thế nào. Vương quốc thiên đàng nghĩa là sống cùng với Chúa. Vậy chúng ta sống cùng với Chúa Giê Su mỗi ngày như thế nào? Câu trả lời đó là có Chúa ở trong chúng ta. Vậy thì làm thế nào chúng có Chúa Giê Su trong chúng ta? Chúng ta cần làm những thứ để có Chúa ở trong chúng ta: 1. Chúng ta đọc Lời của Chúa hàng ngày. 2. Đây là điều quan trọng nhất. Chúng ta nhận máu và thân xác của Chúa Giê Su mỗi Chủ nhật. Bây giờ tôi biết nhiều bạn ở lớp vẫn chưa được rửa tội. Vì vậy bạn không thể được nhận Bí tích thánh thể đó là thân thể và máu của Chúa. Tuy nhiên, khi bạn được rửa tội, bạn sẽ có Chúa hoàn toàn ở bên trong mình. Ở giai đoạn này, bạn đang ở giai đoạn chuẩn bị bằng cách học Lời của Chúa.

The Holy Qurbana that you receive on Sunday at the church is a mystery. For those who see from outside will only see it as a tiny piece of bread and an ounce of grape juice. But for the children of God, it is receiving Jesus straight inside. It works in the same way as the military secret code. Only the soldiers will know the actual meaning of a symbol, language or sign. For others, especially the enemy it wouldn’t make any sense. This is clearly explained by Saint Paul in 1 Corinthians 2: 6-10. 

Holy Qurbana mà chúng ta nhận được vào Chủ nhật ở nhà thờ là một điều huyền nhiệm. Với những ai nhìn từ bên ngoài thì nó chỉ là một mẩu bánh nhỏ và một ounce nước nho. Nhưng với con cái Chúa, đó chính là việc nhận lãnh Chúa Giê Su vào thẳng bên trong. Nó sẽ hoạt động cùng một cách như một mật mã bí mật quân sự. Chỉ có người lính mới biết ý nghĩa thực sự của một ký hiệu hoặc dấu hiệu. Với người khác, đặc biệt là là kẻ thù thì nó chả có ý nghĩa gì cả. Đây là điều Thánh Paul đã nói đến trong 1 Corinthians 2:6-10.

This is very deep. So we need to understand it clearly. Saint Paul says there are two types of wisdom. They are the wisdom of this age and God’s wisdom. The wisdom of this age means worldly knowledge, worldly beliefs, and worldly reasoning. For example, imagine a person is failing in whatever s/he does. If they are not believers of the true God, they will say it is my bad luck, or my stars are not good. This month is not good for me, and so on. But, if that person is a believer of God, s/he will say, I am not worried about failures. I know my God always takes care of me. There is something better that God has prepared for me. I will wait for that. This is what Saint Paul said as we just read in vs.10 What no eyes have seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him. 

Đây là một điều vô cùng sâu sắc. Vì vậy chúng ta cần phải hiểu rõ. Thánh Paul nói có hai kiểu khôn ngoan. Đó là sự khôn ngoan của đời này và sự khôn ngoan của Chúa. Sự khôn ngoan của đời này nghĩa là sự khôn ngoan của thế gian, niềm tin của thế gian và những suy nghĩa của thế gian. Ví dụ, hãy tưởng tượng một người gặp thất bại cho dù người đó làm gì đi chăng nữa. Tôi sẽ chờ điều đó. Đây là những gì Thánh Paul nói như chúng ta đọc trong câu 10 Những gì mắt chưa thấy tại chưa nghe và lòng chưa nghĩ đến. Thì Đức Chúa Trời đã dành sẵn cho những người yêu mến Ngài.

For those who depend on worldly wisdom and worldly knowledge, Holy Qurbana is just a normal piece of bread and an ounce of wine. But for those blessed with the wisdom of God, it is the real body and blood of Jesus Christ. It is a mystery and this mystery is our secret code. We receive this mystery because Jesus died for our sins and rose up on the third day. When we receive His body and blood, they enter in our body and wipe out all the sins hidden inside. Thus we are in Christ and Christ in us through the Holy Qurbana. And we resurrect as a new creation after receiving Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new. This renewal process is ongoing in our life. Every Sunday night, we study the Word of God. After every class, you are undergoing change. You may not know that, but God is working inside you, and you are covered by the secret code of the Kingdom of heaven. 

Với những ai phụ thuộc vào trí khôn ngoan của đời này và các tri thức của đời này, Holy Qurbana chỉ là một mẩu bánh bình thường và một ounce rượu bình thường. Nhưng với những ai được ban phước bởi sự khôn ngoan của Chúa, đây thực sự là thân thể và máu của Chúa. Đây là một bí mật và bí mật này là một mật mã bí mật. Chúng ta nhận được bí mật này bởi vì Chúa Giê Su đã chết cho tội lỗi của chúng ta và Ngài đã trỗi dậy vào ngày thứ ba. Bạn có thể không biết điều đó, nhưng Chúa đang hoạt động trong bạn, và bạn được bao bọc bởi mật mã bí mật của Vương quốc thiên đàng.

The second thing that Saint Paul says is given in vs. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Those who are new, Jesus was crucified by the people who were guided by the devil. So, it was the devil who thought that by killing Jesus, the people would not be saved. If people are not saved, it means after death the devil can take the spirit of the people with him. The devil did not know that Jesus would rise up on the third day. So, this was kept as a secret. This Satan failed and God won. This is what we read in Colossians 2: 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it. The rulers and authorities mean the devil and his army. When Jesus was being flogged and tortured, the devil was laughing and enjoying. And Jesus suffered everything in silence. He did not fight back though one word from His mouth could have wiped out all the enemies. When Jesus died on the cross, the devil thought he had won. But it was when Jesus resurrected on the third day, the devil realised his defeat. 

Điều thứ hai mà Thánh Paul nói được đưa ra trong câu 8 Không có nhà lãnh đạo nào của đời nầy biết được điều đó, vì nếu biết, họ đã không đóng đinh Chúa vinh quang vào thập tự giá. Với những bạn mới theo học, Chúa Giê Su đã bị đóng đinh bởi những người bị dẫn dắt bởi quỷ. Vì vậy, chính quỷ là kẻ nghĩ rằng, bằng cách giết Chúa, con người sẽ không được cứu. This is a great lesson for us. We are nearing the completion of the Great Lent. During this period, we had all different types of attacks from the devil. He tried to attack family relationships; he attacked jobs, he attacked studies, he attacked our finances, and he attacked our bodies and minds too. But we suffer in silence. But our joy and the day of our celebration is coming. On the day of Easter, we will come out victoriously. We will be the winners, because we depend on the secret code which is the body and blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross. That is what Saint Paul quoted, no eyes have seen, no ears heard, what God has prepared for us.  For now, the devil is thinking that he is winning by attacking us. But no, he is actually losing. We, the children of God, will be the winners.

Đây là một bài học tuyệt vời cho chúng ta. Chúng ta đang gần kết thúc kỳ Chay Thánh. Trong suốt kỳ chay này, chúng ta gặp phải tất cả những sự tấn công từ kẻ thù. The parables are the secret code that Jesus used to save the people who genuinely believed in Him and followed Him. Now this does not mean that it is for only a few selected people. Not at all. It is for all the people in this world. It is for all those who have ever lived and died; it is for those who are alive, and it is for those who are yet to be born. That is what we read in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life. As this verse clearly says, it is for everyone. There is no discrimaination at all. Then why a secret code for only a selected few? Let us come back to Psalm 78 where we read about the prophecy about the parable. Let us read from vs.5-8. 

Các dụ ngôn chính là những mật mã bí mật mà Chúa Giê Su sử dụng để cứu con người, người mà tin cậy Chúa thật lòng và theo Ngài. Điều này không có nghĩa là nó chỉ dành cho một vài người được chọn. Không phải vậy. Đây là điều dành cho tất cả mọi người trên thế giới. Dành cho cả những người sống và người đã khuất. Đây là điều chúng ta đọc được trong John 3:16 Vì Đức Chúa Trời yêu thương thế gian đến nỗi ban con một của Ngài, hầu cho bất cứ ai hễ tin Con ấy không bị hư mất mà được sự sống đời đời. Như câu này nói rõ, điều này dành cho tất cả mọi người. Không có bất kỳ một sự phân biệt nào. Vậy thì tại sao một mật mã bí mật chỉ dành cho một vài người được chọn? Chúng ta quay lại Thi Thiên 78:5-8 để đọc về một lời tiên tri về các dụ ngôn này.

As we read here, initially, the secret code was given to every human being as we read in vs. 5 . It was their responsibility to teach about the secret code to the following generation. But, as we read in vs.8 the people became a stubborn and rebellious generation. They were not faithful to God and wandered away from God. 

Như chúng ta đọc được ở đây, ban đầu, mật mã bí mật được trao cho con người như chúng ta đọc được trong câu 5. Trách nhiệm của họ là phải dạy mật mã này cho các thế hệ sau. Now we have a new generation who are hearing this secret code in the form of parables directly from God. The older generation are also hearing the same parables, but they do not understand. The reason why they do not understand is given by Jesus’ quote of Isaiah’s prophecy as we read in Matthew 13:14-15 As we read here, they have become stubborn and are not willing to change. 

Bây giờ chúng ta có một thế hệ mới những người lắng nghe mật mã bí mật trong dạng dụ ngôn trực tiếp từ Chúa. Thế hệ cũ cũng nghe các dụ ngôn đó nhưng họ không hiểu. Lý do họ không hiểu được Chúa Giê Su nhắc lại từ lời tiên tri của nhà tiên tri Ê sai trong Matthew 13:14-15 Họ đã làm cho ứng nghiệm lời của nhà tiên tri Ê Sai: Các ngươi lắng nghe nhưng không hiểu, Đưa mắt nhìn mà chẳng thấy gì. Your parents and your ancestors have not heard about Jesus. If you talk about Jesus to your parents, they will reject you outright. They might even scold you for following Jesus. But, you have to stay silent, and stay calm. You have a greater responsibility. It is to pass on this secret of the Kingdom of God to your children. In that way, you and your family will be saved. Following the wisdom of this world will only end up in failure and disappointment. Following the wisdom of God will save you and your family. At the same time, we pray for the stubborn people. The love of Jesus is for every human being. God does not want anyone to be destroyed. So, our duty is to pray for everyone. And God will do the rest.

Bố mẹ và tổ tiên các bạn không được nghe nói về Chúa Giê Su. Nếu bạn nói về Chúa Giê Su với bố mẹ, họ sẽ từ chối bạn thẳng thừng. Họ có thể còn mắng bạn vì theo Chúa. Nhưng bạn phải yên lặng và bình tâm. Bạn có một trách nhiệm cao hơn. Đó là truyền lại mật mã bí mật của vương quốc Thiên đàng cho con cái. Bằng cách này, bạn và gia đình sẽ được cứu. Tonight’s class was just an introduction to the parables. In the next class and the following few classes, we will take up each parable.

Matthew 12:46-50: Bất cứ ai làm theo ý muốn của Chúa sẽ là mẹ Ta

Tonight, we study Matthew 12:46-50. Let us read the passage. 

Tối nay, chúng ta học Matthew 12:46-50. Chúng ta hãy cùng đọc đoạn này.

This passage is the last part of Matthew chapter 12. In the last couple of passages we were studying the difference between the Holy Spirit and demonic spirits. Every human being is born with a spirit given by God. If they are committed to God, the Holy Spirit of God lives in them. If they ignore or reject God, the Holy Spirit leaves and the evil spirit starts living in them. 

Tối nay chúng ta học đoạn cuối cùng của Matthew chương 12. Ở những bài học trước, chúng ta đang học về sự khác biệt giữa Thánh Linh và ác linh. Mỗi người đều được sinh ra với một linh do Chúa ban. This means that we need to have an ongoing relationship with Jesus. Tonight’s passage teaches us about the power and benefits of an intimate relationship with Jesus. The advantage of a permanent relationship with Jesus is that the Holy Spirit will never leave us. And when the Holy Spirit is inside, we will be able to fight off the demonic spirits. 1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. You need to understand the meaning of this verse. The first part of the verse says You are of God. There are many people around you. But all of them do not believe in Jesus. Many people have not even heard of Jesus. Many people have heard but have not tried to understand. Many others have heard, and started knowing Jesus, but stopped following and left Him. Interestingly, another set of people came expecting financial and other worldly benefits but had to leave disappointed. The verse says, (But) you are of God. It means you have maintained your relationship with Jesus from the beginning. And, you are continuing in that relationship.

The second part of the verse says that (you) have overcome them. It means you have so far overcome the temptations of the devil. You had difficulties, but you did not give up your relationship with Jesus. You had temptations of the flesh and frustrations from your personal relationships, but you clung on to Jesus. You had losses in your personal life, financial difficulties, and relationship problems but you were patient. You held Jesus very tight. Saint Paul lists his personal sufferings and explains how he held Jesus Christ very tight in 2 Corinthians 11: 24-27. The sufferings listed here are unimaginable for us. Even through all those sufferings, Saint Paul never rejected Jesus. If we are in that situation, we might say, there is no point in following Jesus because my suffering is too much. So how did Saint Paul stand all these sufferings and fight the devil? The answer is in the third part of the verse. 

Phần thứ hai của câu này nói rằng, con đã vượt qua chúng. Có nghĩa rằng từ trước tới nay bạn đã vượt qua những cám dỗ của quỷ. Bạn gặp những khó khăn nhưng bạn không từ bỏ mối quan hệ với Chúa. Vậy Thánh Paul có thể chịu đựng được những gian khổ và đấu tranh chống lại quỷ bằng cách nào? Câu trả lời nằm ở phần thứ ba của câu nói này.

The last part of the 1 John 4:4 says He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. It means the Holy Spirit inside you is greater and powerful than the evil spirit who is in this world. The evil spirit attacks our body, our personal relationships, our jobs, our finances, and almost everything that we have. The purpose of his attack is to destroy our spirit. But, we have the power of the Holy Spirit inside us. And we fight back with the power of the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 3:14-17 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and earth takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of His glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through His Spirit, and Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. 

Câu cuối của 1 John 4:4 nói rằng Đấng ở trong con lớn hơn đấng ở ngoài thế gian. Có nghĩa rằng Thánh Linh ở trong bạn lớn hơn và mạnh hơn ác linh ở ngoài thế gian. Ác linh tấn công thân thể, các mối quan hệ, công việc, tài chính và hầu hết tất cả mọi thứ chúng ta có. Mục đích của sự tấn công là để phá hoại tâm linh của chúng ta. As we read here, the prayer of Saint Paul is that we be strengthened in our inner being with power through the Holy Spirit. Our inner being is our spirit. When our spirit is strengthened by the Holy Spirit, we have the courage and strength to overcome all kinds of adversities in our lives. In 1 John 4:4 we are called little children. Please read that verse again. There is a reason why we are called little children. First reason is that God is our Father and we are His children. We pray, Our Father who art in heaven. The second reason is that as being addressed as little children, it shows a special relationship with God. In Ephesians 3:14 we just read that we belong to God’s family. It also shows a strong relationship. We do not call anyone on the street as our family member. By family, we mean those who are closely related to us. 

Như chúng ta đọc được ở đây, lời cầu nguyện của Thánh Paul đó là chúng ta được mạnh mẽ trong con người bên trong của chúng ta với sức mạnh qua Thánh Linh. Con người bên trong của chúng ta chính là tâm linh của chúng ta. The advantage of being children is that they are completely protected by their parents. Children do not have any fear when they are with their parents. Children do not have any worries when they live with their parents. Children have full confidence that no outsider can harm them because they are with their parents. When children go out of their house, they are by themselves. That’s the time when they feel insecure and are prone to all kinds of challenges and difficulties. We are talking about the power of relationships here. The devil does not like a strong family. So he always tries to split our families in one way or the other. We must be very careful about the devil and his tactics. He wants to divide us so that he can destroy us easily. Saint Peter reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion , seeking whom he may devour.  As this verse tells us, the devil wants to destroy our relationships. He wants to destroy our relationship with God. He also wants to destroy our relationship with our family members. 

Lợi ích của việc là con cái đó là chúng ta được bảo vệ hoàn toàn bởi bố mẹ. Con cái không có bất kỳ nỗi sợ hãi nào khi chúng ở với bố mẹ. Con cái không có nỗi lo lắng nào khi chúng sống với bố mẹ. We are children of God. We belong to God’s family. As the head of our family, God loves us, and cares for us. He also protects us and covers us. Having a close relationship with God means we have the Spirit of God in us. We are strengthened by the Holy Spirit, and have full confidence to fight the evil spirit. 

Chúng ta là con cái Chúa. Chúng ta thuộc về gia đình của Chúa. Như là chủ gia đình, Chúa yêu chúng ta và chăm sóc cho chúng ta. Ngài cũng bảo vệ và bao bọc chúng ta. Có mối quan hệ gắn bó với Chúa nghĩa là chúng ta có Thánh Linh của Chúa ở trong chúng ta. Chúng ta được làm cho vững mạnh bởi Thánh Linh và có đầy đủ đức tin để đánh lại ác linh.

The invitation to be a member of God’s family is for all human beings. It is not a relationship in the flesh. It is an eternal relationship and it is a spiritual relationship. We are united with God in spirit. Let us read tonight’s passage again. When people said to Jesus, your mother, and your brothers, they were talking about the relationship in the flesh. Hence Jesus said, there is no my mother or my brothers. Whoever does the will of God is my mother and whoever follows God are my siblings. We know that Mother Mary followed God intimately. So she is the Mother of all human beings. The disciples and the saints followed God. So they are brothers and sisters to all human beings. It means whoever has a spiritual relationship with God belongs to the family of God. 

Lời mời để trở thành thành viên của gia đình của Chúa là dành cho tất cả mọi người. Đó không phải là một mối quan hệ trong xác thịt. Đó là mối quan hệ vĩnh cửu và nó là mối quan hệ tâm linh. Chúng ta được hợp nhất với Chúa trong tâm linh. Chúng ta hãy đọc đoạn hôm nay một lần nữa. Khi mọi người nói với Chúa, mẹ Ngài và anh Ngài, họ đang nói về mối quan hệ xác thịt. This is a privilege and a blessing offered to all human beings as we read in 1 John 3:1 See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God, and that is what we are. We actually do not have any right to be called children of God because we are sinners. We only make God sad with our words and actions. We ignore Him, and sometimes we even reject Him. Still, God’s love for us never changes. He always waits patiently for us to return. And whenever we return, not only God, but the whole family in heaven erupts in joy and celebrates it. That is what Jesus said as we read in Luke 15:10 Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. It means when a person repents there is huge celebration in the family of God as a new member is added. 

Đây là một vinh dự và là một phước lành dành cho tất cả con người, như chúng ta đọc trong 1 John 3:1 Hãy xem Đức Chúa Cha đã ban cho chúng ta tình yêu thương lớn dường nào, đến nỗi chúng ta được gọi là con cái Đức Chúa Trời và chúng ta thật là con cái Ngài. Chúng ta thật sự không có bất cứ quyền lợi gì để được gọi là con cái Chúa bởi vì chúng ta là những kẻ có tội. Chúng ta chỉ làm cho Chúa buồn với những lời nói và hành động của mình. Chúng ta phớt lờ Ngài và đôi khi chúng ta từ chối Ngài. Ấy thế nhưng, tình yêu của Chúa dành cho chúng ta không bao giờ thay đổi. Ngài luôn chờ đợi một cách kiên nhẫn để chúng ta quay lại. Và bất kỳ khi nào chúng ta quay trở lại, không chỉ Chúa mà cả gia đình trên thiên đàng đều vỡ òa trong niềm vui mừng và mừng vì điều đó. Đó là điều Chúa nói trong Luke 15:10 Cũng vậy, Ta bảo các ngươi, các thiên sứ của Đức Chúa Trời sẽ vui mừng về một tội nhân ăn năn. Our priority should always be to be a member of God’s family. How can we become a member of God’s family? There are three things that we need to consider to become Jesus’ mother, brother or sister:

Sự ưu tiên của chúng ta cần phải luôn là một thành viên trong gia đình của Chúa. Làm thế nào chúng ta có thể trở thành một thành viên trong gia đình của Chúa? Có 3 điều mà chúng ta cần cân nhắc để trở thành mẹ, anh chị em của Chúa:

1.    We should be ready to make sacrifices as we read in Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, If anyone wants to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. As I said in the beginning, our relationship is ongoing. It means, it is not an occasional relationship that we have with Jesus. Occasional relationship means whenever we want something, we go to Him. Other times we do not care. That is what people do by going to worship places. Whenever they want something, they go to their god and pray and offer something as a bribe. That is a selfish relationship. Our relationship with God is not selfish. It is very close and very intimate. We carry the cross of Jesus Christ always with us. It means we have no problems in suffering for the name of Christ. We are willing to sacrifice many of our worldly and demonic pleasures for the sake of Christ. By doing so, we take up the cross and follow Jesus. When we take up the cross and follow Jesus, we are members of His family. When we wear a cross with our necklace, it shows that we are members of God’s family. 

1. Chúng ta cần sẵn sàng hy sinh như chúng ta đọc trong Luke 9:23 Ngài phán với mọi người: Nếu ai muốn theo Ta phải từ bỏ chính mình, mỗi ngày vác thập tự giá mình mà theo Ta. Như tôi đã nói từ đầu, mối quan hệ của chúng ta là tiếp diễn. Có nghĩa rằng, đó không phải là một mối quan hệ lúc này lúc khác. Mối quan hệ như thế nghĩa là, lúc nào mình cần thì mình thân với Chúa. Lúc khác mình không quan tâm. Đó là những gì mọi người thường làm khi đi tới các nơi thờ phượng. Bất kỳ khi nào họ muốn điều gì, họ tìm đến thần của họ, cầu nguyện và dâng lễ. Đó là một mối quan hệ ích kỷ. Mối quan hệ của chúng ta với Chúa không phải mối quan hệ ích kỷ. Đó là mối quan hệ thân thiết và gần gũi. Chúng ta mang thánh giá của Chúa Giê Su theo mình. Có nghĩa rằng chúng ta không gặp khó khăn trong việc hy sinh vì danh của Chúa. Chúng ta sẵn sàng hy sinh nhiều những sự xa hoa của thế gian và ác linh vì danh của Chúa. Khi chúng ta đeo Thánh Giá trên cổ, nó có ý nghĩa rằng chúng ta là thành viên trong gia đình của Chúa.

2.    Always seek to become the become of God’s family. When we seek Him, we will find Jesus. We studied in Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. Whenever we are in darkness, whenever we feel lonely, whenever we are in a dilemma, or whenever we feel lost, we should reach out to God’s family. This is what the jailer did when he saw that he was in trouble. Let us read Acts 16:25-31. The jailer was going to commit suicide. But, the voice of Saint Paul saved him. We also land in similar situations. We may even think of committing suicide. But, if we pay attention to the voice of God, it will save us. The jailer said, I am in deep trouble. The jail doors are open. The government will arrest me. I will lose my job. I may even be hanged. Saint Paul and Saint Silas said, nothing to worry, believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. When we trust the Lord, we are saved, because, the moment we place our trust in Him, we become God’s family. Once we are members of God’s family, we do not have to worry about anything. 

2. Luôn luôn tìm kiếm để trở thành thành viên trong gia đình của Chúa. Khi chúng ta tìm kiếm Ngài, chúng ta sẽ tìm thấy. Chúng ta học trong Matthew 7:7 Hãy xin sẽ được, hãy tìm sẽ gặp, hãy gõ thì cửa sẽ được mở. Bất cứ khi nào chúng ta ở trong bóng tối, bất cứ khi nào chúng ta cảm thấy cô đơn, bất cứ khi nào chúng ta ở trong trạng thái tiến thoái lưỡng nan hoặc cảm thấy bị lạc lối, chúng ta cần tìm kiếm gia đình của Chúa. Đây là điều người tù đã làm khi anh ta thấy anh ta ở trong rắc rối. Chúng ta hãy đọc Acts 16:25-31. Người tù đang định tự tử. Nhưng tiếng nói của Thánh Paul đã cứu anh ta. Chúng ta cũng gặp phải những tình huống tương tự. Chúng ta thậm chí có thể nghĩ tới việc tự sát. Nhưng nếu chúng ta lắng nghe kỹ tiếng nói của Chúa, điều đó sẽ cứu chúng ta. 3.    Do not think that it is not possible to become a member of God’s family. The best example is that of the criminal who was crucified with Jesus, on His right hand side. Let us read Luke 23: 39-43. Both the criminals knew that they were being punished for their crime. The criminal on the left hand side did not have any hope. So he blamed Jesus. But, the criminal on the right hand side still had hope even though he was dying. He said, Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. So I am being punished. But, I do not want my spirit to be destroyed. So when you rise up from death, please remember me too. The reply by Jesus was amazing. Jesus said, not when I rise up from death, but today itself, you will be with me in heaven. It means from this moment onwards you are my family. The same is what Jesus wants to tell each of us. When we request Him to make us Jesus’ family, He won't say that ok, I will think about it. Jesus won’t ask for any bribe. The answer is simple and straightforward. Today onwards, you are my family. 

3. Đừng nghĩ rằng không thể trở thành thành viên trong gia đình của Chúa. Ví dụ lớn nhất đó là tên trộm người bị tử hình cùng với Chúa, ở bên tay phải của Ngài. Chúng ta hãy đọc Luke 23:39-43. Cả hai tên trộm đều biết rằng họ bị tử hình vì tội ác của họ. Tên trộm ở phía tay trái không có bất cứ hy vọng nào. Vì vậy anh ta buộc tội Chúa. Nhưng kẻ ở bên phải vẫn có hy vọng mặc dù anh ta sắp chết. Anh ta nói, Chúa Giê Su, con biết con là kẻ có tội. Vì vậy con đáng bị trừng phạt. Nhưng con không muốn tâm linh con bị phá hủy. Vì vậy khi Ngài trỗi dậy từ sự chết, xin hãy nhớ tới con. Câu trả lời bởi Chúa thật đáng ngạc nhiên. Ngài nói, không phải khi ta trỗi dậy từ sự chết đâu, nhưng ngay hôm nay, con sẽ ở cùng Ta ở trên thiên đàng. Có nghĩa rằng từ phút này trở đi, con sẽ là gia đình của Ta. Tương tự đó là những gì Chúa muốn nói với mỗi người trong chúng ta. Khi chúng ta kêu cầu Ngài dể khiến chúng ta trở thành gia đình của Chúa, Ngài sẽ không nói rằng, được để Ta nghĩ về điều đó. Chúa không cần các bạn phải cúng cho Chúa cái gì. Câu trả lời rất thẳng và rất đơn giản. Từ hôm nay trở đi, con sẽ là gia đình của Ta.

Jesus said, who is my mother, who is my brother? Whoever does the will of God is my mother, whoever follows me is my brother, and whoever submits themselves to God is my sister. Therefore, let us have a close relationship with Jesus so that we are covered as members of His family.

Chúa Giê Su nói rằng, ai sẽ là mẹ Ta, ai sẽ là anh em của Ta? Bất cứ ai làm theo ý muốn của Chúa sẽ là mẹ Ta, bất cứ ai theo Ta sẽ là anh em Ta và bất cứ ai phó thác mình cho Chúa sẽ là chị Ta. Do đó, chúng ta hãy có một mối quan hệ mật thiết với Chúa để mà chúng ta được bao bọc như là thành viên trong gia đình.
